Pakistan and Uzbekistan Discuss Potential Collaboration

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Commerce, Jam Kamal Khan, visited Tashkent Pharma Park on Saturday to explore potential collaborations between Pakistan and Uzbekistan in the pharmaceutical sector.

Accompanying him were Uzbekistan’s Minister of Investment, Industry, and Trade, Laziz Kudratov, and Ata Ullah, Trade and Investment Counsellor at the Embassy of Pakistan. The delegation received a warm welcome from Abdulla Azizov, Chairman of the Pharm Agency Uzbekistan, who provided a detailed briefing on the park’s background, achievements, and available facilities supporting the pharmaceutical industry.

During the tour, Minister Jam Kamal Khan examined various sections of the pharma park, gaining insights into its advanced infrastructure, research capabilities, and technological innovations. He emphasized that the facility offers promising prospects for collaboration with Pakistani medical institutions and the herbal medicine sector. Additionally, he underscored the need to strengthen bilateral ties in healthcare and pharmaceuticals to foster joint research, enhance production capacities, and expand trade between the two countries.

As part of his visit, the minister also inspected the warehouse facility, assessing its modern storage and logistics systems, which play a vital role in ensuring the efficient distribution of pharmaceutical products.

The visit reaffirmed Pakistan’s dedication to enhancing trade and investment relations with Uzbekistan, particularly in the expanding pharmaceutical industry.
