The International Cricket Council (ICC) has unveiled the nominees for the Player of the Month awards for February, recognizing exceptional performances in international cricket.
The shortlist includes standout players from the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy, the Women’s Ashes, and a rising talent from Thailand.
### Men’s Player of the Month Nominees
**Shubman Gill (India)**
Gill maintained his impressive form in February, amassing 406 runs at an average of over 100. His notable performances against England included scores of 87 and 60, followed by a match-winning 112 in Ahmedabad. He continued his stellar run in the Champions Trophy, scoring an unbeaten 101 against Bangladesh.
**Glenn Phillips (New Zealand)**
Phillips shone in the Tri-Nation series in Pakistan ahead of the Champions Trophy. He smashed a blistering 106 in Lahore, followed by scores of 28 and 20. In New Zealand’s Champions Trophy opener, he added a rapid 61 and took a crucial catch to dismiss Pakistan’s Mohammad Rizwan, helping secure a 60-run victory.
**Steve Smith (Australia)**
Smith delivered outstanding performances as Australia’s stand-in captain during their World Test Championship series in Sri Lanka. He scored centuries in both Tests, with 141 in the first and 131 in the second, guiding his team to a 2-0 series win and earning the Player of the Series award. Smith, who recently retired from ODI cricket, concluded his ODI career with a half-century in the ICC Champions Trophy semi-final against India.
### Voting Process
The winners will be selected through a combination of votes from an independent ICC Voting Academy and fan participation. The Voting Academy, comprising journalists, former players, broadcasters, and ICC Hall of Fame members, will account for 90% of the vote. Fans can cast their votes on the ICC website, contributing the remaining 10%. The winners will be announced next week on the ICC’s digital platforms.
