NADRA Centres to Soon Provide Passport Services

To ease the process for citizens in Karachi, the government has announced the establishment of passport offices at two NADRA mega centres in the city, which is Pakistan’s largest and the capital of Sindh.

According to an Express News report, passport services will now be available at the NADRA Mega Centre 5 Star Chowrangi and the NADRA Mega Centre Siemens Chowrangi (SITE). This initiative aims to alleviate the congestion at the central passport office by providing additional locations for passport services.

The plan to set up these offices was finalized during a recent visit by Director General of Passports, Mustafa Jamal Qazi, to Karachi. Discussions during the visit also revealed plans to expand passport services to approximately 11 NADRA mega centres across Pakistan, including those in Karachi.

Earlier, Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi visited Karachi’s 24/7 Passport Office at Awami Markaz and the NADRA Defence Mega Centre, where he interacted with passport and ID card applicants. He sought feedback on the process, and citizens expressed satisfaction with the system’s efficiency.

Naqvi assured the public that passport issuance delays were being addressed, and that passports would now be delivered within the promised time frames.

Mustafa Jamal Qazi, Director General of Immigration and Passports, confirmed that the backlog of passport applications had been cleared. In a previous visit to the passport production unit, the DG highlighted that since July 1, over 3.3 million passports had been printed, including categories for normal, urgent, and fast-track processing.

The DG attributed this achievement to the dedication of the production team, which worked diligently to handle the high demand. Citizens were advised to pick up their passports directly from regional passport offices without waiting for notifications, as the delivery process had been completed.
