A video posted by The Hollywood Reporter on X (formerly known as Twitter) captured the amusing encounter. In the clip, Benny and Selena, who announced their engagement last month, approached Zendaya from behind while her back was turned.
As Zendaya turned to see Blanco nearby, her eyes widened in apparent surprise, followed by a nervous smile. She shared a brief exchange with the couple as they carefully stepped around the train of her elegant gown, holding hands as they passed.
The interaction quickly caught the attention of social media users, with some humorously speculating that Zendaya looked “terrified” by the encounter.
Both Zendaya and Gomez were among the night’s top contenders, earning nominations for their remarkable performances in recent projects.
Zendaya was up for Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy for her role in Luca Guadagnino’s steamy thriller Challengers. Although she didn’t win, the category went to Demi Moore for her role in The Substance, marking Moore’s first Golden Globe victory.
Gomez also had a noteworthy evening, earning two nominations: one for Best Supporting Actress in Emilia Perez, which she lost to her co-star Zoe Saldana, and another for her performance in Hulu’s Only Murders in the Building, which went to Jean Smart of Hacks.
While Gomez skipped the red carpet, Zendaya made a bold statement in a strapless orange Louis Vuitton gown paired with Bulgari jewelry. The event marked her return to the Golden Globes after her last appearance in 2016.
