Police in Wisconsin are investigating the motives behind a tragic school shooting carried out by a 15-year-old girl, which resulted in the deaths of a student and a teacher, before she turned the weapon on herself.
The shooter, identified as Natalie Rupnow, also known as Samantha, was a student at Abundant Life Christian School in Madison. Investigators are currently questioning friends and family and reviewing the girlβs online activity to uncover any possible reasons behind the attack. While authorities have not confirmed a clear motive, they are exploring the possibility of a manifesto or other written material related to the incident.
Madison Police Chief Shon Barnes mentioned that authorities are examining the girl’s electronic devices to search for any communication with others. They are also investigating how the teenager acquired a firearm and whether there was any parental negligence involved.
Meanwhile, two other students are in critical condition with life-threatening injuries, while others have sustained wounds but are expected to survive.
The incident adds to the growing number of school shootings in the U.S., which have reached 322 this year, according to the K-12 School Shooting Database. Despite public support for stronger gun control measures, including better background checks and safer gun storage, political leaders have yet to take significant action, citing Second Amendment rights.
