WhatsApp Tests Feature to Add Spotify Music to Status Updates

WhatsApp is gearing up to launch an exciting new feature that will let users share their favorite Spotify tracks directly in their status updates. According to *WABetaInfo*, this functionality was spotted in the latest WhatsApp beta for Android (version 2.25.8.3). The update will provide users with an additional option to post music from Spotify as a status update, alongside the existing option to send it as a message to a contact or group.

This upcoming feature will allow WhatsApp to generate a preview of the shared song, displaying key details such as the song title, artist name, and album cover. The goal is to make music sharing more engaging and visually appealing, similar to the music-sharing capabilities currently available on Instagram Stories.

The new feature will also make music sharing more interactive. Viewers will be able to instantly access the shared track without having to search for it manually. Like Instagram, WhatsApp will include a “Play on Spotify” button within the status update, enabling viewers to open the song directly in the Spotify app with just one tap.

Itโ€™s worth noting that WhatsApp will not have access to the specific songs users share from Spotify. Since status updates are protected by WhatsAppโ€™s end-to-end encryption, only the intended recipients will be able to view the shared content.

This feature is currently in development and is expected to roll out in a future update.
