Over 90,000 Displaced Palestinians Seek Refuge in 115 UN Facilities Amid Gaza Crisis
Over 90,000 Palestinians are currently seeking refuge in 115 UN-operated facilities throughout Gaza due to the ongoing humanitarian crisis exacerbated by Israel’s 19-month military campaign, the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) reported on Sunday.
The agency highlighted the worsening situation, noting that the continued bombardments and the siege preventing the entry of humanitarian and commercial supplies have made conditions even more critical.
Since March 2, 2025, Israel has kept the Gaza border crossings closed, severely limiting the entry of vital food, medical, and relief supplies. This has further deepened the already dire humanitarian crisis, according to reports from international organizations and human rights groups.
UNRWA’s estimates suggest that nearly 420,000 people have been newly displaced since the ceasefire collapsed in March. Following the resumption of Israeli airstrikes on March 18, 2025, over 1,827 people have been killed and many more injured, breaking the fragile ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement from January 19.
Since the beginning of Israel’s assault on Gaza in October 2023, over 51,200 Palestinians have lost their lives, with a significant portion being women and children.
The International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant last November for alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Israel is also facing a case at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) for genocide related to its actions in Gaza.
