UAE, Qatar, and Oman Rank Among World’s Top 5 Safest Countries

In today’s world, safety is a top priority for travelers exploring different countries. To address these concerns, the crowdsourced data platform Numbeo has published its 2025 Safety Index, ranking the safest nations based on crime rates and personal security.

Safest Countries in the World

Topping the list is Andorra, a small European country nestled between Spain and France. With a population of just 82,638 and spanning only 181 square miles, Andorra secured the highest safety rating of 84.7, thanks to its remarkably low crime rate.

Following closely behind, the United Arab Emirates (84.5), Qatar (84.2), Taiwan (82.9), and Oman (81.7) also earned top scores for their secure environments. Other nations in the top 15 include Saudi Arabia (76.1) and China (76.0), with Bahrain and South Korea ranking slightly lower but still among the safest countries.

Safety Rankings of Other Nations

Pakistan was ranked 65th with a safety score of 56.3, placing just ahead of India, which stood at 66th with a score of 55.7. Surprisingly, several countries traditionally viewed as safe did not rank as highly as expected. Australia took the 82nd position with a score of 52.7, while New Zealand followed at 86th with 51.8. The United Kingdom ranked 87th, and the United States secured the 89th position with a score of 50.8.

France, at 110th with a score of 44.6, ranked lower than many of its European counterparts. Meanwhile, Bangladesh and Yemen occupied the 126th and 130th positions, respectively.

Least Safe Countries

Venezuela was ranked as the most dangerous country, sitting at the bottom of the list with a safety index of just 19.3. The country’s ongoing political turmoil and frequent incidents of violent crime contribute to its low ranking. Other nations in the bottom five include Papua New Guinea (19.7), Haiti (21.1), Afghanistan (24.9), and South Africa (25.3).

Understanding the Safety Index

Numbeo’s rankings are derived from user-submitted data, assessing factors such as theft, robbery, harassment, and violent crimes. While this index provides insights into global safety trends, Numbeo emphasizes that its data is perception-based and may differ from official government statistics.
