UAE Declares January 1 as Public Holiday for All Employees

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has announced that January 1, 2025, will be a public holiday for all private sector employees in the UAE. This decision aligns with the UAE Cabinet’s holiday schedule for both government and private sector workers.

January 1 will fall on a Wednesday, making it the first public holiday of 2025 for government employees. The UAE is set to have up to 13 public holidays in 2025, but there will be some changes, especially for Eid Al Fitr.

For Eid Al Fitr in 2025, the holiday will be shorter than in previous years. Typically observed after Ramadan, the Eid break will last up to four days, covering the first three days of Shawwal, the month after Ramadan. If Ramadan lasts 30 days, the break will be from Ramadan 30 to Shawwal 3. If Ramadan lasts 29 days, the holiday will be from Shawwal 1 to 3.

Another important holiday will be Arafah Day on Dhul Hijjah 9, followed by a three-day holiday for Eid Al Adha from Dhul Hijjah 10 to 12, offering another four days off for residents.

These updates aim to provide a clear holiday schedule for UAE residents and businesses to plan ahead.
