A small plane crashed into a commercial building in Fullerton, California, on Thursday afternoon, resulting in two fatalities and 18 injuries. The crash occurred near Fullerton Municipal Airport, about 40 kilometers southeast of Los Angeles. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
Fullerton police confirmed that two people died, with 10 others hospitalized and eight treated on-site. It remains unclear whether the victims were passengers in the plane or individuals in the building at the time of the crash. Witnesses described a loud noise and smoke emerging from the building following the impact.
The aircraft involved was a single-engine Vanβs RV-10, a four-seat plane, according to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), which has launched an investigation into the incident.
This crash follows a series of aviation incidents, including a deadly airliner accident in South Korea on December 29, which claimed at least 179 lives. On the same day, a Norwegian passenger plane made an emergency landing after veering off the runway. Additionally, an Air Canada flight had to make an emergency landing due to a malfunction on December 28.
Local authorities are continuing their investigation into the Fullerton plane crash as they work to determine the cause of the tragic event.
