Trump Criticizes California Officials Over Wildfire Response

Former U.S. President Donald Trump criticized California officials for their handling of the deadly wildfires devastating areas around Los Angeles.

“The fires in LA are still raging, and the incompetent politicians have no idea how to stop them,” Trump posted on his Truth Social platform. He labeled the situation as “one of the worst catastrophes in our country’s history,” questioning the state’s ability to manage the crisis effectively.

The wildfires’ rapid spread and intensity have put immense pressure on firefighting efforts, sparking criticism about the state’s preparedness. Pacific Palisades, one of the affected neighborhoods, faced significant water shortages as hydrants ran dry, further complicating efforts to control the flames. Similar issues were reported in other areas impacted by the fires.

As Trump prepares to re-enter the White House, he has openly blamed California’s Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom for alleged shortcomings in addressing the crisis. In response, Newsom has extended an invitation to Trump to visit Los Angeles and witness the devastation firsthand.

The fires have claimed at least 16 lives, displaced 150,000 residents, and destroyed over 12,000 structures, according to state officials. “Thousands of magnificent homes are gone, and more will be lost. There is death everywhere,” Trump stated.

Despite firefighters’ relentless efforts, including aerial water drops, the Palisades Fire continues to threaten critical sites such as the Getty Center art museum and the densely populated San Fernando Valley.
