Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift may have kept their relationship private for longer than fans initially believed, according to one of Kelce’s neighbors.
Reality TV star Wes Bergmann, who lives near the Kansas City Chiefs tight end, revealed on *The Social Game Podcast* that he knew about the couple’s romance months before it became public.
“I was like the first person to know,” Bergmann said, adding that when he shared the news with podcast host Michele Fitzgerald, she was skeptical. “She was like, ‘She only goes for artists.’”
Bergmann explained that living in the exclusive Leawood, Kansas, neighborhood gave him early insight into the relationship.
“He’s an enigma—on one hand, he’s this big, tough football player,” Bergmann said of Kelce. “On the other, he’s going to have about 12 Taylor Swift songs written about him.”
Rumors about Swift and Kelce dating first emerged in July 2023, when Kelce attended her *Eras Tour*. By September, Swift was spotted cheering for him at his games, but the couple didn’t officially confirm their relationship until an *SNL* afterparty in October.
In a later interview with *Time*, Swift clarified that they had been together long before her first public appearance at one of his games.
“By the time I went to that first game, we were a couple,” she said. “I think some people think that they saw our first date at that game? We would never be psychotic enough to hard launch a first date.”
Bergmann’s comments suggest that the couple’s relationship may have been blossoming behind the scenes well before it became a media sensation.
