Tragedy at Muan Airport: Airliner Crash in South Korea Kills 28

SEOUL:A devastating crash at Muan International Airport in South Korea claimed at least 28 lives on Sunday when a Jeju Air flight, 7C2216, veered off the runway and collided with a wall. The flight, which was en route from Bangkok, Thailand, to Muan, was carrying 175 passengers and six crew members.

Rescue teams have reported finding two survivors, and efforts are still underway to free individuals trapped in the wreckage, especially in the tail section of the aircraft. However, the death toll of 28 has not been officially confirmed. Footage from the scene showed the aircraft skidding along the runway before crashing into a wall, followed by an explosion and debris scattered across the area.

The plane involved in the crash was identified as a Boeing 737-800, though neither Boeing nor the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration has yet commented. South Korea’s acting president, Choi Sang-mok, who took office following a political crisis, has ordered emergency rescue efforts, while Jeju Air is conducting its own investigation.

This tragic incident, one of the deadliest in South Korean aviation history, has sparked concerns over aviation safety and emergency response protocols, especially as Muan International Airport has had no previous major accidents.
