The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has unveiled its annual report for the fiscal year 2023-24, highlighting tax contributions by major cities. According to the report, Karachi retained its position as the leading tax-paying city, with collections totaling Rs 2,522 billion.
Karachi’s Large Tax Office (LTO) contributed over Rs 2,522 billion, including Rs 1,360 billion in income tax and Rs 136.3 million in federal excise duty. Additionally, the office gathered more than Rs 1,000 billion in sales tax.
Lahore’s LTO secured second place, with tax collections surpassing Rs 1,402 billion, while Islamabad’s LTO ranked third, contributing Rs 1,164 billion.
