Dominic Holland, the father of actor Tom Holland, confirmed his son’s engagement to Zendaya in a recent Patreon blog post, titled That Engagement. In the post, the English comedian and broadcaster acknowledged the curiosity surrounding his weekly updates and playfully mentioned how journalists often hope for insider information about Tom.
Addressing the rumors about the engagement, Dominic shared, “The big news this week is a good example of just such an opportunity for me — are they/aren’t they engaged? Zendaya wearing a ring and Tom nowhere to be seen adding to the intrigue.”
He confirmed the engagement but made it clear that he would not divulge any further details, such as the wedding date. Dominic also compared Tom’s thoughtful and meticulous proposal to Zendaya with his own, more casual, proposal to his wife, Nikki Holland. He shared that Tom had everything well-planned, including buying a ring, speaking with Zendaya’s father for permission, and planning the perfect proposal.
Dominic humorously recalled how Tom’s approach to proposing seemed inspired by romantic movies, joking about how he himself had not been as prepared. Reflecting on the pressures of being in the public eye, Dominic expressed concern for the couple’s privacy and fame but praised how Tom and Zendaya handle their spotlight with grace.
Despite the challenges of navigating a public relationship, Dominic expressed his confidence in their future, saying, “Even though show-business is a messy place for relationships… I am completely confident they will make a successful union.”
