Tim McGraw Leaves Netflix Rodeo Series for Back Surgery

Tim McGraw has stepped away from his role as the lead in Netflix’s upcoming untitled rodeo series due to health issues.

As reported by Deadline, the country music star and actor, who was originally set to star and serve as an executive producer on the project, will undergo back surgery and requires time to recover. McGraw had previously undergone orthopedic surgery on both knees in August after an injury sustained during his 2024 tour, which led to the cancellation of several concert dates.

The character McGraw was slated to play is physically demanding, focusing on a bull riding legend who faces a life-altering crisis when a young, bold rider challenges his approach and uncovers hidden secrets. Given McGraw’s need for additional surgery, the role will be recast to ensure the project moves forward.

The future of the series, produced by Skydance Television and McGraw’s Down Home, remains unclear, with speculations about potential recasting. Both Netflix and Skydance representatives have declined to comment.
