Taylor Swift Faces Setback in ‘Lover’ Vinyl Release

Taylor Swift encountered a setback after reissuing her Lover (Live from Paris) album on January 7th. The album, which was available exclusively as a vinyl LP or for download, quickly sold out, causing it to peak at number 58 on the Billboard 200 chart. Fans had high hopes that the album would reach the number one spot.

However, the top spot went to Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny, who released his sixth studio album, Debí Tirar Más Fotos, on January 5, 2025. This marks his fourth album to reach number one, narrowly edging out Swift’s release by just 1,000 units.

For the tracking week ending January 16th, Bad Bunny’s album earned 203,500 units, while Swift’s reissued album secured 202,500 units, including 161,000 vinyl copies sold. Bad Bunny’s rise to the top was fueled by a significant streaming performance, with his album racking up 264 million streams in its first full week.

Other notable new entries in the top 10 of the Billboard 200 include SZA’s SOS, Kendrick Lamar’s GNX, Lil Baby’s Wham, Sabrina Carpenter’s Short n’ Sweet, Billie Eilish’s Hit Me Hard and Soft, Morgan Wallen’s One Thing at a Time, and Gracie Abrams’ The Secret of Us.
