Taliban Shut Down Women’s Radio Station

KABUL:Afghanistan’s Taliban authorities raided the prominent women’s radio station, Radio Begum, on Tuesday, detaining two employees, the broadcaster reported, urging their swift release.

According to the Taliban’s Ministry of Information, the station was suspended due to “multiple violations,” marking the latest crackdown on local media in the country.

“Officers from the General Directorate of Intelligence (GDI), along with representatives from the Ministry of Information and Culture, conducted a raid today at Begum’s office in Kabul,” the station stated.

During the operation, Taliban officials searched the premises, confiscating computers, hard drives, and phones. They also arrested two male employees who, according to the broadcaster, do not hold senior management positions.
