Swedish police confirmed on Tuesday that five individuals were shot during an attack at a school in Orebro, located approximately 200 km (125 miles) west of Stockholm, prompting a large-scale response from emergency services.

According to the police, the victims’ injuries remain unclear, but the incident is being treated as attempted murder, arson, and a serious weapons offense.

Ambulances, police, and other emergency services are present at the scene, which is situated in a campus area housing multiple schools for both children and adults.

Authorities reported that students at the affected school, as well as those at nearby institutions, were kept inside for safety.

Justice Minister Gunnar Strommer called the attack “very serious” and stated that the government was in ongoing communication with law enforcement agencies.
