Speaker Ayaz Sadiq expresses dissatisfaction with PTI’s allegations

Speaker of the National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, expressed regret on Wednesday over the allegations made by leaders of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) concerning his role in government-opposition negotiations.

In a statement released by the National Assembly Secretariat, Sadiq clarified that his involvement in the talks is solely as a facilitator. He emphasized that meeting with PTI’s founder, Imran Khan, is not within his duties or responsibilities.

“I am merely facilitating dialogue between the government and the opposition, and it is not required for me to meet with the party chairman,” said Sadiq.

He also expressed disappointment over accusations that attempts to reach his office had been met with resistance. “My doors have always been open, and I have never denied meeting any National Assembly member,” he affirmed.

Addressing further concerns, Sadiq mentioned that if PTI leaders believe his involvement in the negotiations compromises the neutrality of his office, he is open to stepping back from the process.

He also assured that his absence from the country does not hinder his ability to facilitate meetings. “I remain available to arrange meetings at the request of either the government or the opposition,” he stated.
