Simu Liu Praises Toronto Flight Crew for Heroic Response to Delta Plane Crash

Simu Liu is sending well wishes to everyone traveling to Toronto following a frightening airline incident.

The Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings actor took to Instagram on Monday, February 17, to react to a Delta Air Lines crash at Toronto Pearson International Airport—an accident that left the aircraft overturned and caused major travel disruptions, including delays to his own flight.

“Today was a wild day for anyone flying to or from Toronto,” Liu wrote in his Instagram Stories, reflecting on the unsettling incident that occurred just hours before his scheduled arrival.

The airport was still grappling with severe winter weather after back-to-back storms, which officials later confirmed had dumped more snow in a few days than the entire previous winter. As a result, flight delays were unavoidable—including Liu’s, which was held up for over four hours.

Despite the travel chaos, Liu praised the airline staff for their professionalism and patience.

“The LAX gate agents for my @aircanada flight, which was delayed more than four hours due to the Pearson incident, were incredibly kind to every passenger. It really gave me hope,” he wrote.

Alongside his message, Liu posted a photo from his seat, showing “Toronto, Canada” on the screen in front of him. He wrapped up his post with a simple yet heartfelt message: “Wishing everyone safe travels.”

The Delta Air Lines Flight 4819 crash happened at approximately 2:45 p.m. local time on February 17. The flight, operated by Delta’s regional carrier Endeavor Air, was carrying 76 passengers and four crew members when it made a crash landing.

Fortunately, all 80 individuals on board survived, though some sustained injuries. According to People, a total of 21 passengers were initially taken to local hospitals. As of Tuesday morning, 19 had been released, a Delta spokesperson confirmed.

While the crash was a terrifying ordeal, Liu’s words—and the resilience of airline workers—served as a reminder that even in difficult moments, kindness and professionalism make a difference.
