Indian cricketer Shubman Gill has been awarded the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for February 2025, surpassing Australia’s Steve Smith and New Zealand’s Glenn Phillips to claim the honor.
Gill’s exceptional performances during the month saw him score 406 runs in five One-Day Internationals (ODIs), boasting an impressive average of 101.50 and a strike rate of 94.19. His consistent contributions played a pivotal role in India’s 3-0 series triumph over England, where he recorded three consecutive half-centuries.
The 24-year-old started the series with a solid 87 in Nagpur, followed by a steady 60 in Cuttack. He concluded the series in style with a dominant 112 off 102 balls in Ahmedabad, hitting 14 fours and three sixes. This century earned him the Player of the Match award, and he was also named Player of the Series for his outstanding efforts.
Gill continued his stellar form into the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, helping India secure victories in their first two matches. He scored an unbeaten 101 in the tournament opener against Bangladesh in Dubai and followed it up with a composed 46 against Pakistan. India’s wins in these matches solidified their position as strong contenders for the title.
This marks Gill’s third ICC Men’s Player of the Month award, having previously won in January and September 2023. His recent achievements further cement his reputation as one of the brightest talents in international cricket. Gill was also a key member of the Indian squad that clinched the Champions Trophy last week, adding another accolade to his growing list of accomplishments.
