Shehryar Afridi refutes claims of Sher Afzal Marwat’s removal from PTI

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and Member of the National Assembly (MNA) Shehryar Afridi has dismissed reports suggesting that the party’s founder decided to remove senior leader Sher Afzal Marwat. He emphasized Marwat’s contributions to PTI, stating, “He has served the party well, and we will discuss the matter with the founder.”

Speaking to the media outside the Peshawar High Court on Thursday, Afridi clarified that no such decision was discussed in his presence. He praised Marwat’s dedication, highlighting his active role within the party.

Addressing the events of November 26, Afridi stressed that the entire nation witnessed the situation unfold and reiterated PTI’s commitment to upholding the rule of law. “A nation’s strength lies in the supremacy of law, and we remain steadfast in defending the Constitution,” he added, criticizing stakeholders for failing to fulfill promises made to tribal communities.

Afridi also condemned what he described as state repression against PTI in Punjab, pointing to the imposition of Section 144 across the province on February 8. Despite these restrictions, he claimed, the public expressed its support for PTI, rejecting rival parties.

He further accused the authorities of unjustly imprisoning PTI leaders and workers, warning that such actions were weakening the country.

Additionally, Afridi criticized the federal government for withholding development funds for Kohat and called for unity in ensuring legal supremacy. Questioning the delay in forming a judicial commission, he asked, “What is preventing it from being established?”
