Shehbaz Orders Establishment of World-Class Cargo Scanning System

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has called for the installation of a state-of-the-art cargo scanning system in Karachi and other key trade hubs across the country.

During a meeting held in Islamabad on Friday to review the transit cargo and tracking system, he emphasized the need to adopt modern technology, phasing out outdated tracking, tracing, and scanning practices.

The Prime Minister also instructed that third-party assessments be conducted to ensure the quality of cargo tracking services.

Shehbaz Sharif highlighted that the improved tracking system had significantly reduced smuggling activities, with the value of sugar exports to Afghanistan rising to $211 million this year.

He further stated that Pakistan is set to become a regional hub for transit trade, thanks to its advanced communication infrastructure and enhanced cargo tracking capabilities.
