Shaban Moon Sighted in Pakistan, Ramadan Likely to Begin on March 1
The crescent moon marking the start of Shaban 1446 Hijri has been sighted in Pakistan, officially beginning the eighth month of the Islamic calendar.
Shaban precedes the holy month of Ramadan, which is expected to commence on March 1.
The announcement was made following a meeting of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee in Islamabad, chaired by Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad. Members of zonal committees and other officials also participated in the session.
After reviewing verified testimonies of the moon sighting, Maulana Azad confirmed that January 31 would be observed as the first day of Shaban. Additionally, the 15th night of Shaban, known as Shab-e-Barat, holds special religious significance for Muslims worldwide.
