A tragic plane crash at Scottsdale Airport, Arizona, claimed one life and left four others injured when a Learjet 35A collided with a stationary Gulfstream 200.
The accident took place on Monday at approximately 2:45 p.m. MT, triggering an immediate response from emergency personnel.
Captain Dave Folio of the Scottsdale Fire Department reported that one individual was pronounced dead at the scene. Two critically injured victims were rushed to trauma centers, while another person was transported to a hospital in stable condition. Authorities were still in the process of rescuing one person trapped in the wreckage.
According to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the Learjet 35A lost control upon landing and struck the parked Gulfstream 200, which was on private property. In response, Scottsdale Airport officials temporarily suspended flight operations.
Images and videos circulating on social media depicted the damaged aircraft as emergency crews worked at the crash site. Reports indicate that the Learjet 35A, linked to a Hollywood-based company, is valued at around $4.8 million, whereas Gulfstream G200 models range in price from $2.85 million to $7.2 million.
Scottsdale Mayor Lisa Borowsky extended sympathies to the victims and their families, emphasizing that both local and federal agencies are actively investigating the crash. The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) will lead an in-depth probe to determine the cause of the incident.
