The State Bank of Pakistan’s (SBP) Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) announced on Monday that it has decided to maintain the policy rate at 12%. In its official statement, the MPC declared, “At its meeting today, the committee has chosen to keep the policy rate unchanged at 12 percent.”
This decision follows the MPC’s previous move on January 27, when it reduced the key policy rate by 100 basis points, bringing it down to 12%. Market analysts had widely expected the central bank to continue its monetary easing approach, as the steady decline in inflation has raised hopes for a potential seventh consecutive rate cut. The unchanged rate reflects the committee’s cautious stance amid evolving economic conditions.
