Saudi Arabia Makes Meningitis Vaccine Mandatory for Hajj 2025 Pilgrims
Saudi Arabia has announced that all pilgrims attending Hajj 2025 must receive the meningitis vaccine, as part of enhanced health measures for the annual Islamic pilgrimage. The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah confirmed that both Saudi citizens and international pilgrims must comply with this requirement, and those without vaccination proof will be barred from participating.
The ministry emphasized that Hajj registration and package processing will only proceed for individuals who have received the vaccine. This policy aims to prevent the spread of infectious diseases during the mass gathering, which draws millions of worshippers from around the world.
The decision follows earlier health guidelines issued by the Saudi Ministry of Health in January, which mandated vaccinations and precautionary measures for Umrah pilgrims. Additionally, the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) has instructed pilgrims to carry all necessary health documentation, including vaccination certificates, before traveling.
Reduced Hajj Package Costs Announced

– The 40-day Hajj package has been decreased by Rs25,000, now costing Rs1,050,000, with a third installment of Rs450,000.
– The 25-day short Hajj package has been reduced by Rs50,000, now priced at Rs1,100,000, with a third installment of Rs500,000.
Pilgrims must submit their third installment payments between February 6 and 14, 2025.
Refunds for 2024 Hajj Pilgrims
The government also announced that over Rs4.75 billion will be refunded to Hajj 2024 pilgrims. The refund amounts, determined by factors such as accommodation and airfare adjustments, will range from Rs20,000 to Rs140,000Β across seven categories.
Designated bank branches will begin processing refunds within the next two days.
These measures reflect Saudi Arabia’s commitment to ensuring pilgrim safety while making Hajj more accessible through financial adjustments.
