Sarfaraz Ahmed leaves Quetta Gladiators

KARACHI: Ahead of the 10th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), former Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed announced that he is parting ways with Quetta Gladiators. He shared the news via Instagram, posting a photo with the franchise’s owner, Nadeem Omar.

Sarfaraz expressed his pride in having been with the team for nine years, calling the experience “wonderful and beautiful.” He thanked Nadeem Omar for offering him the opportunity to play for the team, noting the support he received as both a player and captain.

β€œI will always remember your support,” Sarfaraz wrote, sending his best wishes to the Gladiators and thanking the team management, especially Azam Bhai, for their support throughout the years.

Having been part of the Quetta Gladiators since PSL’s inception, Sarfaraz was released by the team earlier this month, making him eligible for the upcoming player draft. He played 86 PSL matches for Quetta, scoring 1,525 runs with an average of 29.32, including seven half-centuries. Under his leadership, the Gladiators won their first PSL title in 2019.

Sarfaraz captained the team for eight seasons until he was replaced by South Africa’s Rilee Rossouw in the previous edition.
