Russian envoy denies claims of Pakistan arming Ukraine

Russian Envoy Denies Reports of Pakistani Arms Supplies to Ukraine

Russia’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Albert P. Khorev, has categorically dismissed media reports suggesting that Moscow has uncovered evidence of Pakistani arms shipments to Ukraine. During an exclusive interaction with The Top Story Genz in Peshawar, Khorev refuted the allegations, stating, “We have not found any proof of Pakistani arms supplies in the Ukraine-Russia conflict. All such claims are baseless.”

Regional Security Concerns
Shifting focus to regional security, Khorev acknowledged that Afghanistan’s counter-militancy efforts remain insufficient but attributed this to the country’s economic struggles and unstable security environment.

He identified ISIS (Islamic State) as the most significant threat to Russia’s national and regional security, emphasizing that Moscow is actively monitoring the situation. Russia is collaborating with regional partners under the “Quartet” framework (Russia, China, Pakistan, and the U.S.) to combat terrorism.

Additionally, Khorev highlighted Russia’s counterterrorism cooperation through the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), a military alliance of post-Soviet states. He reiterated Moscow’s commitment to supporting Pakistan, Afghanistan, and other regional nations in addressing militant threats.

Diplomatic Reassurance
The ambassador’s remarks come amid heightened geopolitical tensions and underscore Russia’s stance on maintaining balanced relations with Pakistan while addressing shared security challenges. His denial of arms supply allegations reinforces Islamabad’s position of neutrality in the Ukraine conflict.
