Shari Franke, the 21-year-old daughter of former 8 Passengers vlogger Ruby Franke, has made shocking revelations in her newly released memoir, The House of My Mother: A Daughter’s Quest for Freedom.
The memoir, published on January 7, alleges Ruby engaged in questionable behavior with her business partner, Jodi Hildebrandt, during a period of family turmoil. Shari describes how Hildebrandt moved into her bedroom, forcing her to sleep on the living room couch, and restricted access to the upstairs portion of their home, barring Ruby’s husband, Kevin Franke, from the area.
In one revealing incident, Shari recalls entering her former bedroom while Ruby and Hildebrandt were away. She describes the space as resembling a “honeymoon suite,” complete with candles, massage oils, and the scent of lavender. Shari also alleges seeing Ruby emerge from the room early in the morning, appearing disheveled and wearing a loosely tied robe with a mischievous smile. These observations led her to question whether the two, who publicly denounced queerness in their ConneXions coaching videos, were involved in a private romantic relationship.
Ruby Franke and Jodi Hildebrandt pleaded guilty to child abuse charges in December 2023 and are currently serving prison sentences for their treatment of Ruby’s six children. In her memoir, Shari details the emotional challenges of living in what she describes as a “house of lies” and expresses her sense of relief when her mother and Hildebrandt were arrested after years of alleged abuse.
The memoir offers a raw and deeply personal look into the Franke household’s tumultuous dynamics, casting new light on Ruby and Hildebrandt’s controversial relationship and raising pressing questions about the extent of their connection.
