Too $hort’s Older Brother Fatally Shot in Oakland
Wayne Shaw, the elder brother of rapper Too $hort, was tragically shot and killed in Oakland on Wednesday morning.
The 61-year-old was reportedly acting as a guard at a suspected marijuana cultivation site when the shooting took place around 7 a.m. on 49th Avenue near East 12th Street in East Oakland.
According to initial reports, multiple individuals attempted to break into the warehouse, seemingly with the intent to rob it, while Shaw was asleep inside. When he confronted them, he was shot multiple times. Officers arrived to find Shaw suffering from gunshot wounds, and he was later pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.
The suspects fled in an unidentified vehicle, and no arrests have been made so far. Investigators recovered shell casings and evidence markers at the scene. Additionally, a bullet-riddled Honda Civic believed to be connected to the incident was found nearby. The vehicle’s owner had reported it stolen the previous night. Authorities are continuing to investigate Shaw’s association with the property.
