Ramadan Moon Not Sighted in Pakistan; First Fast on March 2
The crescent moon marking the beginning of Ramadan 1446 Hijri was not sighted anywhere in Pakistan. Consequently, the first fast will be observed on Sunday, March 2.
The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee gathered in Peshawar on Friday to assess moon sighting reports. Following the meeting, the committee confirmed that no sightings were reported, as per Express News.
Zonal moon sighting committees also convened in various cities, including Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, and Quetta. Representatives from the Meteorological Department and SUPARCO participated in these meetings. However, no confirmed reports of moon sightings were received nationwide, and this information was relayed to the central committee.
Prior to the meeting, SUPARCO had forecasted that Ramadan in 2025 would likely commence on March 2, based on lunar visibility calculations.
