Ramadan 2025: PMD Predicts Holy Month to Begin on March 2

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecasted that the new moon is expected to be born on February 28 at 5:45 PM, increasing the likelihood of the Ramadan crescent being sighted on March 1.

If the moon is sighted that evening, the first day of fasting in Pakistan is anticipated to begin on March 2.

Following tradition, the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will convene on Sha’ban 29, with zonal committees meeting across different regions to gather and verify moon sighting reports before making an official announcement. Religious scholars from various sects will be present to confirm the commencement of Ramadan.

The sacred month, observed with deep devotion, will see millions of Pakistanis joining Muslims worldwide in fasting from dawn to sunset. Depending on geographical location, fasting hours will range between 12 to 17 hours.

In Pakistan, Ramadan is a time of heightened generosity, with increased charitable activities and public food distribution. Many people set up roadside stalls to provide meals for those returning home in the evening, reflecting the spirit of compassion and community.
