King Charles and Queen Camilla are celebrating two decades of marriage this year, yet their enduring partnership is marked by periods of time spent apart. According to royal expert Ingrid Seward, Camilla frequently retreats to her private countryside home, Ray Mill House in Wiltshire, during weekends and summer breaks.
Before marrying Charles, Camilla reportedly made an arrangement to retain Ray Mill House as her personal sanctuary. This allows her to enjoy quality time with her children and grandchildren, free from the constraints of royal life. Seward explained, “She visits every weekend to spend time with her grandchildren and children. She doesnβt go to Highgrove unless she and Charles are hosting guests together.”
While Camilla enjoys her weekends at Ray Mill House, Charles often spends his time at Highgrove or Sandringham. However, the couple typically resides together during the week at Clarence House, maintaining a balance between their shared responsibilities and individual pursuits. This unique arrangement highlights their ability to balance royal duties with personal space, contributing to the longevity of their marriage.
