PTV to Lay Off 1,200+ Employees Amid Restructuring and Digital Expansion

 

Federal Cabinet Approves PTV Restructuring and Digital Expansion Plan

The Federal Cabinet Committee on State-Owned Enterprises, led by Finance Minister Mohammad Aurangzeb, has approved several key initiatives to enhance the performance of state institutions, Express News reported.

Among the measures is the digital expansion of Pakistan Television (PTV), which includes eliminating 1,232 redundant positions within the organization.

During the meeting, the committee endorsed various strategies to improve the profitability and efficiency of public sector enterprises. These include the restructuring of the Karachi Tools, Dies, and Mould Centre board, with Abdul Razak Gohar appointed as its new chairman.

The Technology Upgradation and Skills Development Company (TUSDEC) board was also restructured, naming Mohammad Nooruddin Dawood as its chairman.

Additionally, the committee evaluated the business plans of the Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation (PBC) and set an ambitious goal to eliminate its financial deficit within the next two years.

For PTV, the committee approved initiatives to streamline operations, expand digital capabilities, and establish profitable collaborations.

Another notable decision involved approving the sale of unused assets by the Ministry of Information to private entities, with a directive for immediate implementation of institutional reforms and development projects.
