PTI Opposes Military Court Sentences for Civilians

PTI has rejected the sentences given to civilians by military courts. Omar Ayub, a PTI leader, argued that military courts have no right to try civilians, calling their verdicts unfair. He said military courts are part of the administrative system, not the judiciary, and their sentences violate justice principles.

Ayub added that these courts go against the Constitution, which separates the powers of the government. Asad Qaiser, another PTI leader, also criticized the military courts’ decisions, saying they violated human rights and did not meet justice standards. He expressed disappointment with the Supreme Court’s position on the matter and promised to keep fighting for justice.

Earlier, the military announced that 25 civilians had been sentenced to prison for their involvement in attacks on military sites during protests in May 2023. The sentences range from two to ten years, after a review of evidence and legal procedures.
