PTI Core Committee to Appeal £190m Verdict Within 48 Hours

PTI to Challenge £190 Million Verdict and Stage Protest

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has announced plans to contest the recent ruling in the £190 million reference case within 48 hours, as reported by Express News.

Internal discussions within the PTI core committee indicated that both political and legal strategies were being considered following the verdict. The conduct of the judge who delivered the decision was also reviewed, with the possibility of submitting the Supreme Court’s findings on the judge’s behavior as part of the case record.

Sources revealed that the PTI legal team briefed the committee on perceived legal flaws in the ruling. Additionally, the ongoing negotiations between PTI and the government were also discussed, with committee members emphasizing the need for regular weekly meetings to stay updated, as much of the information currently circulates through the media.

The committee expressed concerns about the government’s reluctance to engage in meaningful negotiations, labeling their stance as undemocratic. Some members felt the government anticipated that PTI’s founder would avoid direct talks.

Omar Ayub remarked, “Despite efforts to obstruct us, we remain committed to negotiations and have submitted our demands in writing in response to the government’s request.”

Following the verdict involving PTI’s founder, member Aliya Hamza criticized the lack of visible protest and questioned why the party had not mobilized on the streets, stressing that the party’s ultimate aim was the release of its founder.

In response, PTI members decided to organize a large protest on February 8, following the founder’s instructions. The party is also making preparations for the protest in consultation with Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur.
