Princess Kate’s Insightful Experience with Lung Cancer During Hospital Visit

During a meaningful visit to The Royal Marsden Hospital in January, Princess Kate discovered an unexpected fact about lung cancer that took her by surprise.

Patient advocate Angela Terry recounted her discussion with the Princess of Wales in the EGFR Positive Lung Cancer UK newsletter.

Terry noted that Kate showed a keen interest in learning about the disease and admitted she was unaware that lung cancer could affect individuals who have never smoked.

“The Princess of Wales appeared genuinely engaged and, like many, was surprised to learn that lung cancer can develop even in non-smokers,” Terry stated.

Kate’s visit aimed not only to thank medical staff but also to highlight the exceptional care offered at The Royal Marsden, according to a statement from Kensington Palace.

Having faced her own battle with cancer, Kate’s connection to the hospital became more personal. She received treatment there and was later confirmed to be in remission.

The hospital remains at the forefront of raising awareness about lung cancer, particularly cases unrelated to smoking.

Terry commended Kate for her poise in announcing her remission and for using her influence to shed light on important health issues.
