Prince Jackson Honors Michael Jackson’s Legacy at *MJ: The Musical* Opening Night
Prince Jackson made a rare public appearance to celebrate his father Michael Jackson’s enduring musical legacy at the opening night of *MJ: The Musical* in Sydney. The 28-year-old attended the performance at the Lyric Theatre on Saturday, March 8, showcasing his support for the production that chronicles his father’s life and creative journey.
Dressed in a sharp navy blue pin-striped suit, Prince appeared in high spirits as he posed solo on the red carpet. The musical, which delves into Michael Jackson’s creative process as he prepared for his iconic 1992 Dangerous World Tour, has been widely acclaimed since its Broadway debut at the Neil Simon Theatre in December 2021. It later opened in London’s West End in 2024.
This marked Prince’s second time attending the show, having previously joined his siblings, Paris, 26, and Bigi, 23, at the London preview night last year. Michael Jackson, who passed away in 2009, was father to Prince and Paris with his ex-wife Debbie Rowe, and to Bigi, who changed his name from Blanket in 2015.
In addition to supporting the musical, Prince has taken steps to honor his father’s legacy through a new event titled *This is Thriller*. Announced on Instagram in June of last year, the event is set to take place every five years at the Palace Theatre in Los Angeles. The initiative reflects Prince’s dedication to preserving and celebrating Michael Jackson’s monumental impact on music and pop culture.
Prince’s appearance in Sydney not only highlighted his pride in his father’s achievements but also underscored the global appeal of Michael Jackson’s artistry, which continues to inspire audiences worldwide through productions like *MJ: The Musical*.
