Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed the government’s commitment to promoting foreign investments by creating a business-friendly environment, enhancing processes, and offering strong institutional support. In a meeting with a delegation of US investors led by hedge fund manager Gentry Beach, the PM emphasized Pakistan’s appeal as a global investment hub, citing its strategic location, skilled and youthful workforce, and rapidly growing consumer market.
The Prime Minister expressed gratitude for the delegation’s interest in exploring business opportunities in Pakistan, highlighting sectors like mining, renewable energy, infrastructure, and technology as key areas for investment. Beach acknowledged Pakistan’s economic potential and praised the government’s investment-friendly policies, expressing confidence in the country’s future growth prospects.
The engagement demonstrated the government’s active efforts to attract foreign direct investment, promote sustainable economic growth, and create job opportunities. Beach further emphasized that Pakistan has overlooked investment opportunities in the past, particularly in sectors with a well-educated workforce. He called Pakistan one of the world’s largest untapped opportunities, aligning the country’s leadership with the vision of peace and prosperity, much like the Trump administration’s goals.
Beach outlined plans to invest billions of dollars across various sectors in Pakistan, including critical minerals, real estate, and technology. He shared plans to develop high-end real estate properties and expand into energy, artificial intelligence, and other emerging sectors.
While Pakistan’s Foreign Office expressed optimism about strengthening ties with the US under the new leadership, there are concerns about potential limitations in engagement due to the ongoing strategic divergences between Pakistan, India, and China. However, Beach’s visit reflected continued efforts to strengthen relations through economic diplomacy.
