Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has commenced a three-day official visit to Egypt today.
During the visit, he will attend the Eleventh Summit of the Developing Eight (D-8) countries in Cairo, which carries the theme “Investing in Youth and Supporting SMEs: Shaping Tomorrow’s Economy.”
As Pakistan’s representative at the summit, the Prime Minister will focus on the significance of investing in youth and supporting small and medium enterprises as key drivers of economic growth.
The Prime Minister will also reaffirm Pakistan’s dedication to the D-8 Organization’s core principles and emphasize collaboration in areas such as agriculture, food security, tourism, and fostering mutually beneficial partnerships among the member countries.
He will outline the steps taken by Pakistan to empower its youth and promote their economic development.
Additionally, the Prime Minister will participate in a special D-8 meeting addressing the situation in the Middle East, including the humanitarian crisis and reconstruction efforts in Gaza and Lebanon due to Israeli actions. He will advocate for peace in the Middle East and reiterate Pakistan’s consistent stance on the Palestine issue.
During the visit, the Prime Minister will also hold bilateral talks with other summit leaders.
Accompanying the Prime Minister are Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, and Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi.
