PM Shehbaz Announces Cancer Hospital in DG Khan, Pledges Development for South Punjab

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced plans to build a cancer hospital in Dera Ghazi Khan, reaffirming his commitment to the development of South Punjab.

Speaking at a public gathering in DG Khan, he stated, “I announce the construction of a cancer hospital here.” Additionally, he revealed plans for a new university in Rajanpur to enhance educational opportunities in the region.

Commitment to South Punjab’s Progress

The premier emphasized that the region is entering a new era of progress, promising employment opportunities for the youth. He recalled past initiatives, including Daanish schools, free medicines, laptop distributions, and conditional cash transfer programs, highlighting the government’s continuous support for South Punjab.

Shehbaz stressed that his party had always allocated a larger quota for South Punjab in various programs, ensuring the region received its due share of resources. “This is your right, and we will continue working towards it,” he pledged.

Expressing gratitude for the region’s support, he remarked, “I cannot repay the love and trust you have shown to me, Nawaz Sharif, and our party.”

Economic Challenges and Recovery Efforts

Addressing the economic situation, Shehbaz stated that when the PML-N took power, inflation had surged beyond 40%, but Nawaz Sharif prioritized the country over political gains. He noted that through the government’s pro-development policies, inflation has now dropped below 2.4%, while the interest rate has been lowered to 12%, benefiting investors, businesses, and farmers.

Shehbaz also highlighted the PML-N’s efforts in providing relief to flood-affected communities in South Punjab, working tirelessly to rebuild infrastructure and support those in need.

Future Vision and Rejecting Foreign Loans

The prime minister reiterated his belief that Pakistan’s prosperity cannot rely on foreign loans, vowing instead to uplift the country through self-reliant economic policies. “Without loans, we will change the fate of Pakistan,” he asserted, promising genuine development rather than empty slogans.

He also commended regional leaders for their dedication, emphasizing that progress, stability, and peace are essential for South Punjab’s growth.

PTI’s Call for South Punjab Province

Meanwhile, the PTI has urged President Asif Ali Zardari to reaffirm his commitment to creating a South Punjab province, accusing the PPP of using the issue for political advantage. Senior PTI leader Shah Mahmood Qureshi, currently imprisoned, stated that if the PPP was serious about the matter, it should engage with PTI and distance itself from PML-N.
