Just a week prior, the Gwadar International Airport officially began operations with its first commercial flight. PIA’s Karachi-Gwadar flight PK-503, carrying 46 passengers, landed at the new airport, marking a historic moment for Pakistan’s aviation sector.

Covering 4,300 acres, the airport is the largest in the country, representing a significant step in regional development. The event was celebrated by prominent figures including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, and Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the operationalization of the airport as a symbol of Pakistan-China friendship and a step forward in strengthening connectivity within Pakistan and the broader region. He also highlighted its role in linking Gwadar to Central Asia, East Asia, and the Middle East, aligning with the goals of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

Chief Minister Bugti called the airport’s inauguration a major milestone for Balochistan, expected to bring prosperity and economic stability to the region.
