PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi Engages with Young Domestic Cricketers Ahead of NZ Tour
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi met with top-performing domestic cricketers on Sunday to address their concerns regarding fitness, skill enhancement, and dietary plans.
The meeting, held at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore, came after Pakistan’s disappointing early exit from the ICC Champions Trophy, despite being the tournament’s host nation.
During the discussion, young players highlighted key challenges related to high-performance training, including fitness management and nutritional support. In response, Naqvi assured them of the PCB’s commitment to their development, granting access to all cricket academies nationwide. He also directed officials to introduce specialized diet plans aimed at improving players’ physical fitness and overall performance.
Emphasizing the need for professional coaching, Naqvi called for experienced trainers to oversee the conditioning of emerging talent. Encouraging the players, he stated, “You are the future of Pakistan cricket, and investing in your development is crucial for the country’s success in the sport.”
Reports suggest that some of these domestic players may be considered for Pakistan’s upcoming tour of New Zealand, where senior players could be given rest.
The tour, featuring five T20Is and three ODIs, is scheduled from March 16 to April 5, with the squad departing on March 12.
Several promising cricketers attended the session, including Muhammad Ali, Ali Raza, Ahmed Daniyal, Nisar Ahmed, Mohammad Ibtisam, Mohammad Salman, Afaq Afridi, Abdul Samad, Saad Masood, Khawaja Nafay, Muaz Sadaqat, Arafat Minhas, Mubasir Khan, Haider Ali, Hassan Nawaz, Faisal Akram, Tahir Baig, and Qasim Akram.
