Pakistan set to appoint 19 new ambassadors for multiple nations

The Foreign Office (FO) has submitted a proposal to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for the appointment of 19 new ambassadors and consuls general to various countries. The Prime Minister is expected to approve the appointments following recommendations from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Rahim Hayat Qureshi, the current Secretary of the Board of Investment (BOI), is recommended for the ambassador position in Brussels, home to the EU headquarters. Asima Rabbani is proposed as ambassador to the Philippines, while Abdul Hameed Bhutta will be appointed ambassador to Japan. Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri, the former Foreign Office spokesperson, is set to become ambassador to Indonesia, and Najeeb Durrani will be appointed ambassador to Ghana.

Additional appointments include Moazzam Shah as ambassador to South Korea, Malik Muhammad Farooq as ambassador to South Africa, and Syed Adil Gilani as ambassador to Morocco. Tariq Karim and Aqsa Nawaz will be designated ambassadors to African countries.

Other notable appointments are Syed Haider Shah as ambassador to the Netherlands, Amir Shaukat as ambassador to Egypt, Shehryar Akbar as ambassador to the Czech Republic, and Marghoob Saleem Butt as ambassador to Switzerland.

Furthermore, Zaman Mehdi will take up the role of consul general in Chicago, Wajid Hashmi in Melbourne, Tanveer Bhatti in Chengdu (China), and Imtiaz Gondal in Manchester.
