Pakistan Crumbles to New Zealand in Fourth T20I, Records One of Their Lowest Totals

Pakistan faced a crushing defeat in the fourth T20I against New Zealand, being bowled out for a mere 105 runs in 16.2 overs. This marks one of Pakistan’s lowest totals in T20I history, highlighting a dismal batting performance.

Batting first at Mount Maunganui, New Zealand set a commanding total of 220-6 in their 20 overs. Tim Seifert contributed 44 runs, while captain Michael Bracewell top-scored with 46. Pakistan’s bowlers struggled to contain the hosts, with Haris Rauf taking three wickets, Abrar Ahmed claiming two, and Abbas Afridi securing one.

In response, Pakistan’s batting lineup collapsed early. Opener Mohammad Haris managed only 2 runs, while Khushdil Shah (6), Hassan Nawaz, captain Agha Salman, Shadab Khan, and Abbas Afridi each scored just 1 run before being dismissed. Abdul Samad emerged as the sole standout, scoring a resilient 44 runs, but his efforts were not enough to salvage the innings.

This is the second time Pakistan has been dismissed for 105 runs in a T20I, with the previous instance occurring in 2018 against New Zealand at Sky Stadium. Pakistan’s lowest-ever T20I total remains 74, recorded against Australia.

The final match of the T20I series is set for Wednesday, 26 March, after which the teams will transition to the ODI format. Pakistan will need to regroup and address their batting woes to avoid further setbacks in the upcoming games.
