PM Shehbaz Reaffirms Pakistan’s Stance on Terrorism, Water Rights, and Kashmir
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday firmly reiterated Pakistan’s opposition to terrorism in every form and declared the country’s willingness to be part of an impartial, transparent, and trustworthy investigation into the recent Pahalgam incident.
Addressing the cadet passing-out ceremony at the Pakistan Military Academy, the premier dismissed India’s accusations as baseless and called for an immediate end to the ongoing blame game between the two nations.
He stressed the importance of water as a vital national asset, essential for Pakistan’s population of over 240 million. PM Shehbaz warned that any move to obstruct or manipulate Pakistan’s rightful access to water under the Indus Waters Treaty would trigger a strong and decisive response. He emphasized that no one should miscalculate Pakistan’s determination to protect its interests.
Recalling the country’s swift military reaction to India’s 2019 airspace violation on February 26, the prime minister praised Pakistan’s armed forces for their capability to safeguard the nation’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
While underlining Pakistan’s preference for peace, PM Shehbaz clarified that peaceful intentions should not be seen as a sign of weakness. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s steadfast dedication to national dignity, security, and sovereignty, and highlighted the country’s positive role in promoting global peace and unity.
Reasserting Pakistan’s support for the Kashmir cause, he referenced the historic statement by Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, calling Kashmir the “jugular vein” of Pakistan. PM Shehbaz affirmed that Pakistan would continue to advocate for the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination, as recognized by international law and United Nations resolutions.
