Pakistan Elected to UN Commission on Narcotic Drugs for 2026–2029 Term
NEW YORK: Pakistan has been elected to the United Nations Commission on Narcotic Drugs (CND) for a four-year term starting in 2026 and ending in 2029. The election took place during a session of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) in New York.
Following the vote, Pakistan’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations issued a statement thanking ECOSOC member states for their support. The mission highlighted that Pakistan’s successful election demonstrates the international community’s recognition of its ongoing dedication to global drug control initiatives.
The statement reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to playing a proactive and effective role in supporting international efforts to combat drug-related challenges. It also noted the country’s longstanding contributions to global discussions on drug control and its active involvement in shaping international drug policy.
Pakistan has consistently taken a leadership role in addressing issues related to the production, trafficking, and consumption of illicit drugs, according to the mission.
