Pakistan Sends Second Relief Shipment to Earthquake-Hit Myanmar

Pakistan has dispatched a second batch of emergency relief supplies to Myanmar in response to the recent earthquake that caused widespread devastation and left thousands in urgent need of aid. Weighing 35 tons, the humanitarian consignment was formally handed over by Pakistan’s Ambassador to Myanmar, Imran Haider, to the Chief Minister of Yangon Region during a ceremony at Yangon International Airport.

With this latest delivery, the total volume of aid sent by Pakistan has reached 70 tons, reflecting the country’s continued dedication to assisting Myanmar during its time of crisis. The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) managed the logistics of the operation, executing the directive issued by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to ensure immediate support for those affected by the disaster.

Following the earthquake, Prime Minister Sharif extended his condolences to the government and people of Myanmar. In a phone call with Senior General Min Aung Hlaing—Chairman of the State Administration Council and Myanmar’s Prime Minister—Sharif expressed Pakistan’s solidarity and reiterated the nation’s commitment to standing by Myanmar.

“We stand shoulder to shoulder with the people of Myanmar and will continue to support them in overcoming the hardships caused by this tragedy,” Prime Minister Sharif stated, also expressing hope in the strength and resilience of the Myanmar population.

In response, General Min Aung Hlaing thanked Pakistan for its timely and heartfelt support, describing the assistance as a powerful gesture of goodwill and friendship between the two nations.

Pakistan has pledged to continue offering humanitarian support to Myanmar, emphasizing the enduring partnership and mutual goodwill shared between the countries.
